Better sick now than in April and May is the thought process for the Cleveland Indians as they battle player fatigue and the flue.
“Everybody’s, like, achy,” Manager Terry Francona said. “I got up today and it hurt more than usual. ‘Sarby’ (third-base coach Mike Sarbaugh) looked terrible. Some guys are getting it worse than others.”
The team has sent Sarby, first baseman Carlos Santana and Bullpen Coach Jason Bere home to recover from “the junk” as Francona calls it.
“I’ve never high-fived a guy with the back of my hand before when sending him down,” Francona said.
