Tribe take two of three from rival Tigers

Prep for series against Royals

The Cleveland Indians ran out of juice in the final game against the Detroit Tigers, losing 9-5 after taking games one and two with a combined 13-4 score.  For Detroit, it was a must win to stay alive in the Wild Card hunt.  SP Trevor Bauer was a bit erratic and had six runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3rd innings in the loss while plunking Miguel Cabrera in the first inning, beaning Ian Kinsler in the third and hitting Victor Martinez in the third.

“There were balls down, up, in, out,” Indians manager Terry indians-4Francona said of Bauer’s outing. “We never want to see somebody get hit in the head. You can see by Trevor’s reaction how he felt. And then the [timing] of it, certainly, you could tell there’s no intent. I also understand why they were aggravated. Guys were getting drilled pretty good. I get it.”

The Indians are still seven games up in the AL Central going into the series with the Kansas City Royals (77-73, 3rd AL Central) but need to keep the pressure on the division and cannot afford to give up many more games going into the playoffs.

Taking the mound for the tribe tomorrow night will be RHP Josh Tomlin (12-8, 4.75 ERA) while the defending champion Royals will send out veteran Edinson Volquez (10-11, 5.40 ERA).

Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Division Leading Cleveland Indians!
